The 2024 Dr. Mario Championship (DrMC) took place at the TORG Gaming Expo in Columbus, Ohio.
The qualifying round started out with an immunity pool, featuring the winner of the 2023 DrMC and the winner of each of the 2024 DrMC Regional tournaments. The immunity pool was played the same way as the previous year.
Each regular qualifying pool featured 8 players playing 1 game against each other in a Round Robin format. Players were allowed to entering another pool to try to get a better qualifying result. The player’s best pool performance is used to determine their seeding rank.
At the end of the qualifying round, the Top 48 advance to the Playoffs. The Top 16 seeds got byes to Round 1, while the rest of the players start in Round 0.
Players were seeded primarily based on their winning percentage in their pool.
New this year, the number of attempts were used to break ties between players with the same winning percentage.
