The 2020 Classic Tetris World Championship (CTWC) took place online due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Having the tournament online meant a change in the format.
In the qualifying round, players were given a 2-hour session to make unlimited attempts to get the highest score.
The Top 64 qualified for the tournament. They were split into 8 groups of 8 players. Each Group was a Double-Elimination bracket, with all matches being Best of 5. The winner of each group advanced to the Top 8.
Early rounds were double-elimination because the organizers could not do same piece sets.
The Top 8 players competed in a Single-Elimination tournament to determine the winner of the 2020 CTWC.
Notes on Timestamps: In each Group Stage, I labelled the matches in 3 parts.
- Part 1: First set of 4 players compete in their first 2 rounds (1st match and 2nd match)
- Part 2: Second set of 4 players compete in their first 2 rounds (3rd match and 4th match)
- Part 3: The remaining 6 players compete for a spot in the Top 8 (5th match until the end)
