The 2020 Dr. Mario Championship (DrMC) was held online due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This was the first time the tournament went under the DrMC name.
Players used Nintendo Switch Online service to play the NES version of Dr. Mario and compete against other players online.
All of the matches were played on Medium speed to compensate for the input lag of the Nintendo Switch Online service.

After the qualifying rounds, the Top 32 players advanced to the playoffs.
The early rounds were a modified version of the Double Elimination. Eight players remained after the early rounds were completed.
The Top 8 rounds were Single Elimination and each match was a Best of 7.
